上河阳戏是怀化区域的地方剧种，脚色以小丑、小生、小旦，“三小”为(wei)主(zhu)。大型剧目内里(li)也有老生、老旦、书生、武旦、花脸。

Shanghe Yang Opera is a local genre of opera popular in Huaihua Area.The characters mainly fall into three categories: Xiaochou(clown), Xiaosheng(young male) and Xiaodan(young female).But in large repertoire, they also include Laosheng(old male), Laodan(old female), Shusheng(student), Wudan(female role who plays martial arts), Hualian(painted face).

上河阳戏音(yin)乐高(gao)亢、明亮、朴质、诙谐，传(chuan)统的曲目有《扯笋》《刘海砍樵》等。2006年，上河阳戏被列为(wei)湖南省省级(ji)非物质文明遗(yi)产名录。

The music of the opera is strong, high-pitched, primitive and jocular.Traditional repertoires include "Pulling Bamboo Shoots" and " Woodcutter Liu Hai". In 2006, Shanghe Yang Opera was listed in the Hunan Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
